De-Mystifying the art of the DJ: DJ workshop with DJ Incongruous
Ever wondered how the music comes from DJ to you? Thinking about becoming a DJ yourself?
DJ Incongruous will be providing a introductory workshop on the in's and out's of playing music to other people. The workshop will include some basic information on what a traditional DJ setup looks like, a demonstration of what all the knobs and buttons do, as well as how to mix tracks together to create a continuous stream of music. There will also be some information provided on the psychological aspects of being a DJ, such as programming a combination of tracks together in order to raise and lower energy and emotion on the dance floor. ‘Philosophies of the East and their impact on the development of psychedelic culture’
Presentation by Adam Van Appledoorn. In this talk Adam will be outlining some research he is currently undertaking into several of the world's major religions and educational philosophies, currently undertaken as part of his masters thesis on "The Psychology of Success and Wellbeing". He will outline a number of core principles shared by these various schools of thought and relate them not only to success and wellbeing in life, but to how they have influenced the development of psychedelic culture globally.
Didjeridu Workshop hosted by Charlie McMahon
Charlie McMahon took up playing the didjeridu as a child, long before it became popular outside its home in the tropical north, and has become the most acclaimed didjeridu player in Australia. Experiments by Charlie led to the development of a SEISMIC recording device (Face Bass) used to stunning effect on the release, XENOPHON. The Face Bass picks up the didjeridu vibrations in Charlie’s body giving the didjeridu a more complex & deeper sound. Arriving via throne carried by 1000 naked, oily slaves the one and only rhythm organism Charlie McMahon invites you to write a 'spontaneous' track together using his awesome inventions the didjeribone and the face base!!
